Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, Jazmine's mother was once a backing singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her a position as curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the landmark. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduate, she is a major in the field of vocal music. Sullivan was a contralto in the choir for children and later just a few years later she joined in the adults ' choir. His exposure to secular music was at first limited "I had solos singing in churches and a person wanted me to go on a gospel label when I was 11, but I was not yet ready," she recalls. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to children from major cities. It gave me the chance to perform The Grace God Gives On Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely enthusiastic." Stevie Wonder sang her part during his 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan signed her first contract to Jive Records when she was fifteen. In Jive Records, she made an entire album. However, it was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. She had a good working relations with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced several of her songs such as "Backstabbers" that was written by Timbaland.
